Annular Art

Annular Art is an art form that has the form of a disc (circular surface) which has an opening at its center, such as a Compact Disk (CD) or a Cutting Blade. Below are some examples of this art form.

The best specimens of this art form make the “annulus” – the central opening – as an integral part of the whole art.

A Billion Stories (ABS) together with SPA-EIACP PC RP on Human Settlements and their impact on Environment under MOEF&CC at School of Planning & Architecture (SPA), New Delhi are organizing an online “Treasure from Trash” competition in line with the mandate of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) combining it with the theme of Annular Art form and reuse or recycling or upcycling of annular wastes such as non-functional CDs, spent-out cutting blades, waste washer rings or other annular waste material which would otherwise end up in a landfill and not get recycled.

To participate you need to register with ABS HERE – and upload a clear (vertically shot, cropped with no clutter in the background) photograph of your creation. Your creations should use minimum amount of new material since the concept is to maximize trash reuse. Make sure to title your work appropriately. The submission form allows you to optionally add a caption/quote that goes together with your work – a good caption can make your work stand out.

The competition is now closed. However, entries can continue to be submitted and will be considered for the next competition whose dates will be announced later. All current entries received by 3-Jun-2023 have been sent to the judges. Winning entries will be announced on 5-Jun-2023 (World Environment Day). The following categories will be there:
